Baseball Bonding
Listening: It's crazy I'm thinking just as long as this world is round, and I'm here and I'll be laughing up and down. Am I right side up or upside down?
So last night I ended up bonding with a guy from Chicago in a bar in Vienna. After drinking with a bunch of Aussies and a couple of Tulane kids, I headed off to find a bar to watch the Red Sox game at. I checked two bars around the hostel and neither of them knew what I was talking about. After that, I headed into town to check on two other bars that the guy at reception recommended to try. The first one, I was talking to the bartender trying to figure out if they were going to be playing the game, when a pretty gorgeous blonde who was ordering next to me said, oh, you should talk to my boyfriend. He's from Chicago.
So, we all start talking and this guy and I just totally bond over talking baseball and Chicago. He's not really from Chicago, but he's from Berwyn (I don't remember if that's the proper spelling). Though we were at odds about which team we were rooting for, it was kind of cool. He's a cool kid.
It turned out that they weren't playing the game there, but this Carribean guy we weretalking with found the game across the street. So we went over there, drank some more, watched the game and met other sox (red and white) fans. It was fun. I drank waaay too much last night though.
The guy from Berwyn and I ended up grabbing a quick snack at McDonald's (the only place open, so I can't be called a hypocrite) before sharing a cab back to Westbanhof. It was a good night.
Time's up. Off to the Nachtmarket for me.
